According to the March 2008 edition of FTC
facts for Consumers Focus on Credit by the Federal Trade Commission, to
order Free Credit Reports go to
annualcreditreport.com, call 1-877-322-8228,
or complete the Annual Credit Report Request Form and mail it to: Annual
Credit Report Request Service, P.O. Box 105281, Atlanta, GA 30348-5281.
The form is on the back of this
brochure; or you can print it from
ftc.gov/credit.
Consumers may exercise this right once
every 12 months to obtain a report from each of the 3 main consumer
reporting companies - Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.
Going to any other website may require
subscriptions to other services, or may result in your getting charged
for the information or exposing your personal information.
So what good is the annual credit report? It
gives you a good idea of what the three consumer reporting companies are telling others who get
your credit reports, and provides an opportunity to correct any errors
that jeopardize your creditworthiness and cause financial
institutions to charge higher rates for loans. You may read the
