Past VITA volunteers, please realize there is no one
single or unique process for coming back to volunteer.
At
some sites, volunteers keep in touch with one
another directly or through the site coordinator, so
they know when activities for the next
season start up. At other sites or in other areas,
each year the volunteer list starts from scratch.
There are site coordinators who keep in touch with
volunteers, and sometimes a community organization
like the United Way may take on the responsibility of
working with returning volunteers. So if you are
interested in volunteering next year, there are a
few options. You can wait to be contacted, and
that may be a long wait. Or you can sign up
through this website, in which case your information is
sent to VITA National Headquarters which then sends it
to the appropriate Territory Manager who may then
contact you.
As a convenience, this website will also forward the
volunteer information directly to site
coordinators who have chosen to receive such
notification, subject
to the limitations of the software and the legal and
bureaucratic requirements.
Just realize that in order to be a successful VITA
volunteer, you need to be interested in helping others,
and be prepared to put up with a lot of bureaucracy.
So, these are the specific actions you can take.
a) let the site coordinator you worked with know of your
continuing interest and ask to be made aware of training
opportunities
b) sign up through this website by going to the
Vita Volunteers Online
Sign-Up Page.
