Product Alert for All SPEC Employees:
This Product Alert is issued to eliminate a misprint in Publication 3189, Volunteer e-file Administrator Guide.

On page 59, please mark out the 5th paragraph:
"For each return prepared using the Self-Select PIN option, information documents such as W-2, W2-G. and 1099, as well as the IRS Acknowledgement Reports must be maintained until December 31."

At the present time, there is no requirement to keep any signature documents or information returns, such as Forms W-2, 1099's, etc. when the taxpayer uses the Self-Select PIN and enters the PIN themselves.
