What are differences between http://www.vita-volunteers.org , http://www.vita-irs.org , http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vita-irs, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vita-information ,http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vita-volunteers, etc ?http://www.vita-irs.org was the first website set up for volunteers in 2003, and subsequently the url changed to....http://www.vita-volunteers.org , the successor website. It is available and accessible to the general public. Most information is added by the webmaster. In the past, visitors entered information by signing the guest book, but do not require an email address or registration. Unfortunately because of the large number of spam messages posted, message posting capability has been removed. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vita-irs is a separate website and mailing list provided by Yahoo!Groups. Its purpose is communication among VITA volunteers. Yahoo!Groups requires an email address for electronic communication, and a Yahoo! Id for web access. Only members have the ability to send email to other members of the group, and add additional updated information by uploading files. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vita-volunteers is a separate website and mailing list provided by Yahoo!Groups. Those who have been certified to prepare taxes are invited to join the group. Membership is otherwise closed. Members may post messages to the group. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vita-coordinators is a separate website and mailing list provided by Yahoo!Groups. Membership is limited to Site Coordinators in the San Jose Area and is otherwise closed. Members may post messages to the group. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vita-information s a separate website and mailing list provided by Yahoo!Groups. Membership is open to anyone who want to join, and the purpose is to send out announcements of a general nature to people interested in volunteering for the VITA program, including a monthly reminder. Messages may not posted by members, only by Moderators and the IRS Vita Coordinator, and it is expected that members will leave the group once they become volunteers. |
