IRS Link & Learn Course

The following link will get you to the IRS site where you can get the  Link &Learn Taxes e-Learning course.  This site is readily available to the public. If you are volunteering in the San Jose Territory Area, please print out the certificate and send it to the IRS VITA VRPP Coordinator by mail  so that you can be certified to prepare taxes at the VITA sites.  Volunteers in other areas will need to get in touch with their respective coordinators.

Details for the 2006 Tax Year training are now available on the IRS site.

There are five Link & Learn Taxes e-Learning courses, each representing a complete certification track:

  • Basic (common individual and family tax concerns)
  • Intermediate (other forms of income and deductions)
  • Advanced (pension and advanced tax concerns)
  • Military (members of the armed forces)
  • International (for Taxpayers living outside the U.S.)

Please make sure that you are taking the Link & Learn Test for the correct year.  In order to take the test for 2006, you will need to register at the test taking website, and it appears that you are allowed 4 attempts to pass each test (not sure what happens if you don't pass the 4th time).
