Santa Clara County:
If you would like to volunteer in these counties, registration is
accepted online
through this website. You are asked to select where
you would like to volunteer. Usually, volunteers get their first choice
site. If you really want to be at a particular site, contacting the
site coordinator and making your case may help. Since some sites are short of volunteers, and others have
too many, sometimes the first choice site may not provide the best
experience for you. Usually Site Coordinators are happy to
get volunteers, but sometimes they are limited by space and number of IRS
provided laptops. Volunteering at a particular site is a personal
choice, and has to work for both the volunteer and coordinator. Note that site assignment is not
necessarily based on
come first serve policy. Many volunteers living in San Mateo and Alameda
counties (both in the San Francisco Territory) train
and volunteer in Santa Clara County. We are glad that
you choose to volunteer in Santa Clara County, but please note that there may be convenient sites within
your own county - which you may find by
getting in touch with the San Francisco Territory IRS VITA coordinator
for further details.
All other
Counties: If you are not from the above Counties,
registration information may be obtained by calling the main IRS
information at 1-800-829-1040 or your
local IRS office.
As a courtesy, if you fill in the
online registration form
on this site,
your particulars will be forwarded by e-mail to the national office for
a response.

providing any personal particulars, you may sign up on the appropriate
mailing list shown below. The only requirement is an email address
you check frequently; you don't even have to have your own name on the
email address. Since only the list owner and moderators are
allowed to post to that list (members may not) no spam email should come
to you from that list.
