TaxWise installation is not recommended by the IRS and UTS
because of security concerns. UTS will not support any
requests due to problems associated with wireless
connections. Implemented incorrectly, there is the
potential for hacking and loss of personal information, but
with the appropriate precautions there is less danger of
this happening.

Keeping these two facts in mind, many time-critical and highly confidential
transactions are connected through wireless connection, e.g. public
safety and police response to emergencies, and the technology allows
better service to be rendered. |
A
wireless network implementation
at the Vita Milpitas Community Library site
in 2006 was successful, and some
lessons from that experience are included. Details of the
implementation and benefits are provided for information only, and not
to be considered a recommendation for your site. IT support and
knowledge of networking, security, and encryption is necessary for a
secure and reliable connection.
The wireless network will be further
enhanced in 2007 to provide a wireless Internet connection, so that
the resources available on the internet are available to tax
preparers on site. Generous support of wireless networking
equipment has made this more accessible.
The ramifications of this capability are
enormous. It will provide the capability of taking wireless
enabled laptops to set up a temporary wireless location at any place and
quickly set up a new VITA site. |
