The VITA @ Milpitas Public Library site operates in the facilities of the Milpitas Public Library, a member library of the Santa Clara County Library system.  The site previously operated as the VITA Milpitas Community Library.  The library opened officially on January 10, 2009 in a brand new modern facility. The work area is larger than our facilities in the past, and we expect to serve many more taxpayers.

This site prepares E-File and ITIN returns only.  Paper returns are not prepared. Taxpayer will receive a paper copy of their return when they sign the e-file authorization.  The Library carries IRS and State of California tax forms for those who wish to fill it out themselves.

The site is open Saturday Feb 7, 2009 - April 11, 2009 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.  Many volunteers bring their own laptops.  A limited number of IRS provided laptops with TaxWise Desktop are available for volunteers who prefer not to put the TaxWise software on their personal laptops.  In April 2006 Friends of Bolivia, Inc was granted an award of  HP Technology for Community Grant of wireless and mobile equipment to support the site.  This year, United Way provided laptops and desktop servers to help increase the capacity. 

The site needs volunteers with IT experience familiar with laptops and networking equipment.
